"The pilots at the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School are the best in their class. Only they can aspire to the ranking of TOP GUN, which is now also featured on the side and back of a watch from IWC: the TOP GUN Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph. The case with its 46-millimetre diameter is made of black high-tech ceramics, the crown, push-buttons and back cover of matt grey titanium. Powered by the 79230-calibre automatic chronograph movement, the watch is a distillation of 70 years of experience and expertise in the manufacture of professional pilot's watches. This is reflected in the aircraft-inspired design elements, all the way through to the altimeter-like date display. On the dial, the bright red small seconds hand and the two central stopwatch hands stand out forcefully against the background. The stopwatch hands are in the shape of fighter planes and, when at rest, are positioned one on top of the other, providing an indication of the watchmaking speciality represented by the split-seconds chronograph with its flyback hand. This can be used to stop times with split-second accuracy or to measure intermediate times within any one-minute period. Needless to say, the movement in a pilot's watch of this calibre is protected against magnetism by a soft iron inner case."
