The Emergency Mission is a backup survival instrument for pilots. it consists of a chronograph watch equipped with a miniature transmitter to locate people in distress. The miniature radio transmitter broadcasts a signal on the international aviation distress frequency of 121.5 MHz, used by all rescue services. Originally sold new in February 2005. Recently serviced by Breitling Switzerland.

This unprecedented technical feat has been achieved by the principle of the magnetic pushpiece, a Breitling proprietary patented device enabling activation of chronograph controls that precludess any direct contact between the pushpiece and the movement.
